Hophopediya is a digital platform developed as part of Ali Porteous’s PhD research project on Mirza Alakbar Sabir (1862-1911) and Caucasian Turkish satire in the early 20th century. The project will bring together digital editions of poems by Sabir and others, images of their original publications, new translations, contextual and explanatory notes, and literary–historical analysis, as well as other tools relevant to the project.

The project employs established digital humanities methods, with all texts encoded according to the Text Encoding Initiative (TEI) standard. Content on the site is being expanded gradually as the research develops.
